As part of the multimedia project for sigil8.com, Harry Levene has teamed with record producer and sound artist Jon Pigrem to create new sound works and digital movies with the sigil “what you give…”

8 to the power: A sound piece has been created using techniques of spatialised sound.
The piece uses our ability to differentiate and locate streams of audio information that guide us to a point of comprehension. It is psychoaccoustically designed to create overlapping pockets of sound, facilitated by our perception of sonic distance and frequency.

8 to the power: 2-minute stereo sound clip remixed for computer speakers

The work becomes the sound track for the digital movie 8 to the power 2, in which the sigil appears and disappears, radiating from and orbiting the centre of the screen. Within the sigil’s elements are enhanced (chroma-keyed) video images recorded in London’s east end markets, changing coloured areas that are gradually identified as the shapes of people.
